Lately we’ve got some wonderful news.
It was about the straycat-problem in the Netherlands.
You see, when in Holland the population
of strays or geese or other animals
is too big,
they like to shoot them,
in large numbers
and think the problem has been solved…
The government allowed to shoot
from 8,000 untill 13,500 straycats
every year!!
Can you believe that?
The worst of the story is,
when you’re an outside housecat,
or an in- and outcat,
or…
well, you know what I mean…
The hunters don’t think:
“Oh, that’s Little Binky from next door…”
no, they just shoot…
like a hobby…
What? Okay Granny..
no, not to long
I’ll come to the point right now.
To make a long story short…
137,123 people,
us included,
signed a petition against the killing
and WE WON..
NO KILLING MORE ALLOWED..
YES!!
We can all walk freely again…PHEW…
and the surplus of strays
get help
accordance the TrapNeuterReturn system…
….that other organizations are already use
for ages!…
And we’ve got a ‘Thank You’ letter
with a saddle cover for the bike… 🙂
Have you seen the ears..
Granny, I don’t know what people
are thinking, when they see that ears
coming from under your buttocks…MOL 😀
I don’t see my tuna…
Can I have some tuna, please,
I have a hungry belly to still…
before I can go on with my blog.
Thank you, Granny,
that will do for now…
My belly is filled,
so now I can go on with some more news…
Great news…

Wonderful, wonderful news you won. Just magnificent. Blessed cats. Not their fault they got born! It is horrible to imagine them being shot – especially, as you say, in an/outdoor cat.
Happy new year 🙂
Jan 02, 2014 @ 09:50:31
Thank you for your input, Noleen. Pawkisses for a Magnificient New Year 🙂
Dec 29, 2013 @ 16:08:50
My favorite cat EVER died over a decade ago.. He looked a lot like Binky. When I was living in another state in the early 1990’s he disappeared. A neighbor in back of our house found him in their garage a few days later, in pain, a bb pellet in his rear. I took him to the vet who took xrays. He couldn’t take the bullet out and said that it would be encapsulated. He lived for another 10 years after that.
Thinking about this makes me wonder how many cats shot in the Netherlands were left to a painful recovery or death when the shot didn’t instantly kill them.
Dec 11, 2013 @ 12:15:28
That’s fantastic news. I wasn’t aware of this law, but am very glad it’s been changed. An animal friendly society is the best sort of society. 🙂
Dec 12, 2013 @ 09:26:57
You’re right, Cheryl, but there’s still a lot to fight for. Thanks for your input 🙂 Pawkisses for a Happy Thursday 🙂
Dec 08, 2013 @ 08:54:44

Dec 08, 2013 @ 03:00:20
Congratulations my friend. Your blog is indeed amazing. Full of heart and compassion for others and yes, our beautiful furry friends. It saddens me though that they are shooting cats to fix the population problem. That is horrific and barbaric. Cats are gentle creatures. I hope the government continues to find ways in creating a solution without harming them. Bless your heart for being a true advocate for cats and animals. Have a great weekend.
Dec 09, 2013 @ 09:48:41
Thank you for your kind words, my furriend 🙂 Pawkisses for a Happy Week 🙂

Concats on receiving the blog of the year 2013 award twice! It is very much deserved! And thank you so much for nominating me! Last year my human lacked the decency to follow on this award, but not this year!

Timmy
Dec 03, 2013 @ 10:04:02
Timmy, I’m busy to find some counselers for the curved minds of the politicans. They can’t see beyond their noses and always want a quick solution, so lifetime therapy can help maybe 😉 Pawkiss 🙂

Dec 01, 2013 @ 17:17:44
So glad they are not killing those poor cats now. What is it with humans? They have to destroy everything. What gives them the right to decide who should be killed? My mum is angry at this but I’m so glad it got banned thanks to everyone who signed the petition.
Congrats on the award!
Dec 03, 2013 @ 10:12:08
Athena, it’s unbelievable that politicans won’t see beyond their noses, and always want a quick solution, so it’s time to get them lifetime therapy to fix their curved minds. Pawkiss for a wonderful week 🙂
Dec 01, 2013 @ 15:22:06
That is the best news possible about not shooting cats 😀 It’s like the badger cull in England, they’ve had to stop it because the people doing the shooting are very poor shots. Horrible. Congratulations on two stars already – you most certainly need lots of tuna to celebrate little Binky!
Dec 03, 2013 @ 10:16:14
Annie, most politicans think in a twisted way, so they definetely need some counseling…for life! Pawkisses for a wonderful week 🙂
Dec 01, 2013 @ 13:12:53

LOve that you have put a stop to the indiscriminate shooting, seems an all to easy way to shoot the wrong animals without looking into other possibilities…
Dec 04, 2013 @ 08:57:08

Dec 04, 2013 @ 09:04:58
This
iswas going on for years, Draliman, but the politicans couldn’t see beyond their noses, that this wasn’t the answer to the problem, only TNR can make a difference…and therapy for some politicans who ever thought that shooting was the solution. Pawkiss for a wonderful week 🙂Dec 01, 2013 @ 04:56:53

Dec 01, 2013 @ 01:12:39
Oh my God, I had no idea there was such a law in Netherlands! I thought only, we, Greeks had such indifferent, cruel attitudes towards stray animals so it was quite a shock to read about this… I’m so glad it changed, good job people! 🙂 Pawkisses to you and your Granny {and congrats on your Stars} 🙂
Dec 04, 2013 @ 10:32:08
Athina, it was time to ring the bell. Some politicians need counseling for sure, to fix their curved minds by thinking that shooting is the solution. There’s a lot going in the world, that we don’t know about. Pawkisses for a wonderful day, my furriend 🙂
Dec 01, 2013 @ 00:21:22
Congrats, little friend, on the great things you have going on!
